Created for a customer in Daylesford, this custom 1400 x 2200 mm Jarrah ladder bookcase was designed to display a valuable runner collection in an open, contemporary form. The tall A-frame profile gives the piece presence while leaving clear views through the shelving.
Warm Jarrah shelves step outward across the black timber frame, creating varied display levels and a strong sculptural rhythm. The contrast between the richly coloured shelves and dark structure makes the materials part of the design.
Slim supports, generous spacing and clean shelf edges keep the 2200 mm-high bookcase visually light despite its scale. Viewed from the front or side, the staggered arrangement balances useful display space with an airy silhouette.
This Daylesford project shows how custom shelving can be made around a particular collection rather than treated as standard storage.
