Custom Tasmanian Oak Library Unit

Completed in 2021, this custom library unit was handcrafted from solid Tasmanian Oak and designed to provide strong, practical storage with a refined furniture finish. Built as a standalone timber piece, it combines open shelving, careful proportions and traditional cabinetmaking detail to create a unit suited to books, display pieces or treasured collections.

Tasmanian Oak was chosen for its strength, clean grain and warm natural character. The timber was finished with a hand-wiped stain to bring depth and richness to the colour, then sealed under a durable 2PAC lacquer for long-lasting protection. This gives the piece a more polished and enduring finish while still allowing the timber grain to remain part of the design.

The workshop images show the hands-on process behind the finished piece — measuring, fitting, sanding and finishing the timber rather than relying on a flat-pack or factory-standard approach. The result is a solid, useful and elegant library unit made to suit the home and hold up over time.

For clients looking for a custom timber bookcase, library unit or display cabinet, this project shows how Pride Furniture can build practical storage with genuine timber character, careful proportions and a handcrafted finish.
