Custom Cabinetry and Joinery

Handcrafted in Daylesford, Victoria
Good cabinetry should make the room work better while feeling as though it belongs there. The dimensions, storage, materials, hardware and finish all need to suit the space and the way it will be used.
Pride Furniture creates custom cabinetry and joinery from Don's Daylesford workshop for homes and businesses across regional Victoria and Melbourne. Completed work includes kitchens, islands, wardrobes, laundries, pantries, fitted wall units, apartment interiors, custom doors and commercial fit-outs.

Cabinetry designed for the space
Standard cabinets can leave awkward gaps, waste useful storage or force the room around fixed dimensions. Custom work allows the layout to respond to walls, windows, appliances, access, ceiling height and the items that actually need to be stored.
A single cabinet may solve one practical problem. A coordinated fit-out can carry the same proportions, finishes and hardware through several rooms so kitchens, wardrobes, bathroom storage, laundry cabinetry and built-in furniture feel connected rather than added separately.
Don can discuss freestanding furniture, fitted cabinetry or a combination of both. The right approach depends on the room, the brief, the materials and the level of installation required.
Completed cabinetry and joinery projects
Architectural 2PAC kitchen and home fit-out
Completed in 2024, this full-home package included the kitchen, island, bathroom, laundry, pantry and wardrobes. Every piece was finished in 2PAC inside and out, with Victorian Messmate detail and Blum runners and hinges used throughout.

2PAC wardrobes and custom joinery
Full-height doors, overhead cupboards and consistent black hardware created practical storage with a clean architectural finish. The wardrobe work formed part of the same coordinated kitchen, bathroom, laundry and pantry fit-out.

Tasmanian Oak apartment fit-out
This coordinated apartment project combined a fitted television wall unit, bed, bedside tables and custom storage cabinetry. Repeated timber, finish and detailing helped the living room and bedroom feel like one resolved interior.
2PAC and Messmate kitchen island
Painted 2PAC cabinetry and Victorian Messmate gave this island a practical cabinet structure with the presence of a carefully made furniture piece. It formed the central element of the wider architectural home fit-out.
Custom Messmate timber doors
Solid Messmate entry and internal doors brought natural grain, substantial construction and consistent timber detail through the home. Clean lines and black hardware kept the result refined and practical.
Passing Clouds winery fit-out
Feature-grade Messmate tables, chairs, a tailored kitchen serving area, practical storage and custom shelving were made for the cellar-door dining space. The project demonstrates how furniture and joinery can support daily hospitality use while reinforcing the character of the venue.
Meir Tapware commercial displays
Since 2010, Pride Furniture has created custom display boards and trade-show installations for Meir Tapware. Accurate fitting, durable construction and clean presentation allow the premium products to remain the focus.

What to consider before pricing
- The room: Photos, wall dimensions, ceiling height, windows, doors, skirtings and access all affect the design and installation.
- The storage: List what needs to fit inside, including appliances, clothing, pantry items, equipment or display products.
- The layout: Explain which items need quick access, which should be concealed and where drawers, doors or open shelves may work best.
- The finish: Timber, painted 2PAC, hardware, colour and surrounding finishes help determine the visual direction.
- The wider project: If several rooms are involved, include the full scope early so materials and details can be planned consistently.
Materials, hardware and finish
Don's completed cabinetry includes Victorian Messmate, Tasmanian Oak, Jarrah and painted 2PAC finishes. Timber can bring warmth and visible grain to a room, while painted cabinetry can create a cleaner architectural surface. Combining the two can give a larger installation contrast without losing the character of real timber.
The suitable material and finish depend on the intended use, the design and what is practical for the space. Hardware, hinges, runners, handles and internal finishes should be discussed as part of the whole job rather than treated as afterthoughts.
How to start your cabinetry project
- Send photos of the room, rough measurements and the project location.
- Describe what the cabinetry needs to store and how the room is used.
- Include plans, appliance or equipment sizes, and any reference images you already have.
- List the rooms or pieces involved if the work is part of a larger fit-out.
- Don will discuss the scope, materials, practical constraints and information still needed before pricing.
Frequently asked questions
Can Pride Furniture complete cabinetry across several rooms?
Yes. The 2024 architectural project included the kitchen, island, bathroom, laundry, pantry and wardrobes. Supplying the wider scope early helps keep materials, hardware and proportions consistent.
Do you make both fitted cabinetry and freestanding furniture?
Yes. Don's completed work includes installed kitchens, wardrobes and fit-outs as well as freestanding cabinets and furniture. Some projects combine both approaches.
Can solid timber be combined with painted cabinetry?
Yes. The architectural kitchen and island combine Victorian Messmate with painted 2PAC cabinetry. The suitable balance depends on the room, the design and the finish you want.
Do you take commercial joinery and display projects?
Yes. Passing Clouds Winery and Meir Tapware show two different commercial applications: a hospitality fit-out and premium product displays. Include the site, intended use, timing and installation requirements in the enquiry.
